Default Exp Gained?

Soo i am wondering when do you actually gain exp. When you kill the monster or can you gain it buy standing around why some one else kills the monsters and you do nothing??? (This is for information for survivor i am planning?)

For example.. If i take my Level 1 Survivor in to SoO in a run which i am being taken on would i gain exp by just standing around while the runner kills the enermies??
Or if i was stood around while some one done glacial farm??

Thanks for any answers

You will gain exp if you pose a threat to an enemy, IE; you touch their agro bubble. Not the brightest thing to do, especially in SoO.

Just to outdo Morkai here, as I always have to, like he said, you have to be in their agro bubble in order to receive partial experience. That being said, as soon as you enter agro bubble, you become a target as well, and in SoO that equals you getting owned. However, the vaettir farm/glacial farm is a pretty good way to earn experience since the vaettir are knocked down and can't attack.. Your still taking a risk though, since they sometimes DO break. I recommend just taking a skill like recall, and stepping into the person thats farming the vaettirs right before they all die.

Well that is close but not exactly correct.

Ok proof is in the podding or in the quest "Charr at the Gate" in Prophecies.

This quest you party with Prince Rurik and kill 4 charr that are at the gate to the Northlands.

If you stand on the hill and Prince Rurik runs in and kills everything and you do not move and are NOT in the "Agro Bubble" you will get 0 XP.

If you stand on the hill and Prince Rurik runs in and kills ONE foe and you move to have a different foe that Prince Rurik is NOT KILLING in your agro bubble you will get HALF of the XP for Rurik Killing that foe because a foe of the "group" that Rurik killed was in your agro bubble. (not the actual foe that rurick killed)

If you stand on the hill and Prince Rurik runs in and kills something and you have PRINCE RURIK in your agro bubble you get the FULL amount of XP.

HERE IS THE EXCEPTION...

LONGBOW or FLATBOW.

No matter where Prince Rurik is WITHIN the party - not in your agro bubble - and you are attacking a "Member of the foe's group" and the prince kills something you get FULL XP even though NONE of the foes are in your Agro Bubble.

Longbow and flatbow will attack foes OUTSIDE your agro bubble. If the team mate can get and hold agro and you can shoot a foe with a long bow you will never be the receiver of damage because you are outside of the foe's agro bubble.

So to recap trying to get XP

1) Equip a long bow or Flatbow
2) let your team mate go in and take the damage staying out of the foe's agro bubble
3) shoot anyone - even if your arrows are obstructed the game still thinks you are attacking and you will get full XP
4) if the foe breaks agro and starts coming for you...RUN!!!

vaettir is a decent way to go. doing it with my survivor. sin secondary with recall. wait until the kegs are dropping for a few secs, throw up shadow sanctuary for precautionary measures, cancel recall. also have shadow form as a super precaution to throw up if everything goes haywire so that i'm safe for 18 seconds to close out of the game. 9k exp a run, more with scrolls. best bet to find someone willing to take u is during these drop weekends. u can hold the other person's stuff so they can farm longer. of course the person has to trust u ;-)

There is the best advice for a survivor who wants low-risk experience. Just one long/flatbow shot then back off. Though I will add that SoO is not the place for you to do this.

Whoever suggested shadowstepping into dying vettyrs needs a /facepalm. So many things can go wrong... one eventually will... and it only takes one.

I agree with the poster above.

My only suggestion is HArd Mode SNOW WURMS. Please ONLY kill the top 10 snow wurms. My wife died when she went to kill the bottom 3 snow wurms. she got to lvl 2 in normal mode and thought of doing it in hard mode and got dead. The "trees" killed her faster than she could map out.

I was like MAN DO NOT GO DOWN THE HILL. how many times do I have to say it. In hard mode do not go down the hill. With the cheapest scroll the 5 min one you will get 6KXP in about 4 minutes WITH MAPPING included.

You will also get 1 chest 50% or more of the time. The dragons breath fire wand is there and a very nice skin to boot.

So lets recap. For XP that you can not die (unless you go down the hill) Kill the 10 yes only 10 snow wurms that are there on the upper level. DO NOT cross the bridge. After killing the 10 wurms MAP BACK to the station. Do not go down the hill.

Use a Fire weapon and a shield - if meele- get a shield with FIRE damage on it - sleep in the fire as the snow wurms deal FIRE damage. Why I do not know. I tested this and that is how my LS got the title. You should be able to get the title in a week and a bit with this.

Don't just grind it. Do some abing or something else to break the monotony of it.

snow wurms hm is the 100% safest way to survivor.
Pros-
Wurms Only attack melee - if you stand out of melee range casting or wanding they wont attack.
The Lag wont kill you - even if it hit 500k spike you still survive unlike other places where lag can cease survivor.
You can solo easily if caster prof 2nd.
Cons-
Need to be a caster in any regards - i did mine on me/n using degen and damage and tho it took 6 mins a run it was easy even when i had 25k+ spikes on and off.
Like imnotyourmother said - only do the 10 wurms , the bottom 2 or 3 are within a patrol path and those trees hurt bigtime.
Chests i wouldnt worry about - doing wurms from lvl 10 non survivor to r3 survivor netted me about 60 keys in total which i used elsewhere.
Yes gunners is faster but that also carries high risk specially in hm - sit in gunnars and when theres spikes watch for ppl sayin the lag cost them survivor - i counted 4 ppl when i was waiting for a run to rata sum.

An alternate way was posted in farming section and has 3 heros bonding - best to see the post and see what it entails - its solid and works.

Again there is a smart man. I agree totally with the above poster except I ran the keys and there are better places I admit.

You will get 100K EASY with this way too so there is Gold to be had.

I did it with a WAR. It took me a WEEK to get my build Just right so that I can kill the wurms in time before they went into the ground. Use the fire imp to speed things along until lvl 20 and hard mode becomes available.

I was using a FIRE Sword with Dance with death and I went WAR/ELE for extra damage.

My Elite was War endurance. I used the degen with bleeding and the 20% health reduction.

Form there I used 2 5 energy skills and chained them. They only cost me 2 energy to use cause I gained 3 energy with every hit. Final thrust is excellent skill but do it just after 50% health so that you can put the bleeding on the wurm just before it goes in the ground.

Also there is a PATTERN!!! As you are running down the path after getting The shrine bonus - DO THIS WITH HERO's and HENCHMAN the FIRST time you do it our you WILL DIE. - run down the hill to where the path separates into 2.

Take the path on the Right and go 3/4ths of the way up. STOP there. The first wurm will spawn there. Kill it and then run around the corner up the hill. There will be a second wurm to your right. Ignore it and run up the hill a little way farther and there will be a snow wurm pop up. Kill it and then kill the one that you just ran past.

Recharge your health here....

Run back in the direction of the Second wurm that you killed where the 2 paths once again become one. Kill the wurm that pops up right there.

Run as if you were going to be going down the hill - DO NOT RUN all the way down the hill cause you WILL die- the 5th wurm will pop right out of the ground for you. Kill it and then run Back along the path where you were.

Take the LOWER path - when you get almost there a wurm will pop out of the ground. Kill it and then run to the lower path.

Again two wurms will pop right up for you with a third now on your radar. Kill ONE of the two wurms and then run past the one in the middle and the 8th wurm will POP right up for you.

Then kill the one in the middle and the one that you ran past and map out.

Doing this will save you lots of time. It will pop 7 of the 10 wurms right out of the ground for you to kill. Other wise you will be standing there for ever and not have enough energy to finish the suckers off. War endurance works only if you actually hit something.

You can do a run in 4 minutes flat WITH mapping. use the cheapest scrolls you can get and you will find that you will get 594 XP per kill. There is no better way.

As the above poster said if you are ranged you can do it naked cause the wurms are MEELE and will not move and therefore not attack you. Just degen them to death. Necro is great for this as the minions will kill wurms some of the time even when the wurm is under the ground..its a fluke
